Cressey's Surf Academy is based near the beaches of Porthcawl, 25 mins outside of Cardiff, but offers lessons all along the South Wales coast where ever the best conditions are for that day - we go where the waves are! Only an hour from Bristol, and three hours from London we're the nearest location for land locked surfers!

Born in South Africa, Head Surf Coach Ingemar Cressey is a qualified BSA Level 2 Surf Coach, Fitness Instructor and Lifeguard, and offers over 20 years of surfing experience across UK and international waters, including competitive surfing, as well as over 12 years experience teaching people to surf.

We offer surf coaching for individuals, small and large groups of all ages and abilities, and pride ourselves in tailoring each session to meet your specific needs, providing a highly professional and personable experience whatever your aims. We are developing as an eco-surf school and aim to protect the environment from which we gain. There are many surf schools around the UK coastline, offering a range of

surfing lessons, often working with large groups of individuals at one time. Cressey's Surf Academy is different because we deliver sessions around you and your needs - not the other way round - giving you the flexibility of being able to learn at your own pace, with the people you feel comfortable with, with one to one attention, fitting lessons in around your busy lifestyle.

You don't have to have your own board and wetsuit as this can be provided, but as you progress this may be something you want to invest in. Make sure you get the right advice for your abilities before you go spending money on equipment - we will be happy to offer you free and impartial guidance, and can also assist with custom made board querys with DK Surfboards.
